The Beginnings: 1972 JFF was contracted to the Readymix Group (Qld) including Papua New Guinea. Working with senior management and delivering Defensive Driving Courses assisted in reducing the corporate crash rate and associated vehicle losses by 80% over a 10 year period. Acting as Safety Advisor in the Readymix Quarries and Concrete operations achieved similar reductions in LTIFR. This work continued on with the Boral Group of Companies.
	MINING INDUSTRY 1978 JFF consulted to Utah Development Company in identifying Human, Vehicle and Road factors essential in the causation of 17 major jackknifing crashes. Working with senior on and off site management a holistic approach to the issues saw an almost complete elimination of heavy vehicle crashes over the following five years. The flow on of this project saw John Fraser go on to consult to all Utah Mine sites in the Bowen Basin followed by M.I.M Newlands, several Rio –Tinto sites in Queensland, Hunter Valley, Indonesia ( Kaltim – Prima) and South Africa ( Rossing Uranium). Assisted Rossing in Haul Road design work and worked “on team” with Rossing transport staff in heavy vehicle (bus) selection criteria. Underground consulting work including the preparation of Drilling Manuals was also undertaken for Mount Isa Mines and Selwyn Mining operations. In more recent times, open cut training programmes have been conducted for Anglo American Coal Operations in Central Queensland. JFF also conducts Defensive Driving programmes for senior executives of BHP Billiton and has worked with BHP personnel in the production of a Haul Road Design Manual. John Fraser has acted as a consultant for Hastings Deering in testing Belly and Rear Dump units for stability in wet conditions. The scope of work included working with Consulting Engineers in setting up Belly Dump and Water Truck units to achieve understeer characteristics and stable straight line braking performance. Anti – Jackknife engineering work included incorporating new concepts of tyre placement on various axles and minimizing braking effort to drive axles. JFF has also consulted to MIM Alumbrera in Tucamen Province, South America in 4WD and bus operations. JFF is currently working with Leighton Contractors in Central Queensland in delivery of Rear Dump stability programmes.
LOCAL GOVERNMENT/CORPORATE Local Government consulting has also been a feature of the JFF group since 1988 and again 80% reductions in light vehicle crash costs have been achieved by the implementation of a comprehensive Fleet Risk Management programme using the well established guidelines outlined at the introduction of this site. Site safety inspections related to traffic flow and underground parking facilities have also come under the umbrella of JFF consulting activity with major operatives in Local Government. Other corporate activity includes crash analysis and Driver Training programmes for: Brisbane Transport. Pharmaceutical Groups. Trucking and Coach Companies including international consulting work in South America and New Zealand. Road Surfacing Groups. Oil Companies - (including international consulting activity). Fiji Police Force. Airport Rescue Services (RFFS). Brisbane City Council Fleet Drivers and other staff.
